Barmouth railway station is on the Cambrian Coast line from Machynlleth to Pwllheli and is located by a level crossing just off the A496 which runs through the town. The postcode for the station is LL42 1LS. Independent ticket office open May to September Mondays to Saturdays 08.30 – 16.30. Live Departure and Arrival screens. Cycle storage stands.
The station is very close to the centre of the town and to the promenade. The southbound platform is home to Barmouth's tourist information centre which provides a travel information service; the building also houses a small museum devoted to the history of the town.

Departures for Machynlleth Monday to Saturday are at 06.46, 07.47, 08.52, 11.03 and then approximately every two hours until 19.00; last train at 21.20 (plus 22.22 on Fridays). All except the 07.47 and the 21.20 trains join or connect with the Aberystwyth to Birmingham trains. Arrivals from Pwllheli are generally 2/7 minutes earlier. Sunday train at 15.01 which runs to Birmingham.
Departures for Pwllheli Monday to Saturday are at 06.09, 07.47, 10.01 and then approximately every two hours until 18.05; last train at 22.21. All except the first two trains run from or connect with the trains from Birmingham. Arrivals from Machynlleth are a few minutes earlier; on Fridays there is also an arrival at 20.03 which terminates at Barmouth. Sunday train at 19.49 which runs from Birmingham.
