Swansea railway station is on the South Wales main line/West Wales line; most services on the Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury start from here. Located in the High Street off the A483 that runs through the city and to the north of the Maritime Quarter. The postcode is SA1 1NU. Ticket office open Monday to Friday from 05.15, Saturday 06.15, Sunday 08.00; closes 20.00. Information services open Monday - Friday 24 hours, Saturday 03.00 - 00.00, Sunday 07.00 - 00.00. Ticket machine, live Departure and Arrival screens, tourist information centre, waiting room, payphones, refreshments, newsagents, toilets. Car parking @ £6.20/day - 59 spaces; cycle storage stands; taxi rank adjacent to the station.

Swansea is a major station with frequent/regular services to a number of destinations. To the east, services operate on the South Wales main line to Cardiff and Newport and on to Bristol Parkway, Reading & London Paddington or to Abergavenny, Shrewsbury & Manchester Piccadilly; connections at Cardiff for other lines. To the west, services run on the West Wales line to Carmarthen and then to Tenby & Pembroke Dock, Haverfordwest & Milford Haven and to Fishguard Harbour.

Most services on the Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury start from Swansea; train times from 11 December to 20 May 2017 are:- Departures Monday to Friday at 06.04, 09.33, 14.35 & 18.21; Saturday at 04.31, 09.15, 13.12 & 18.17, Sunday at 11.12 & 15.29. Arrivals from Shrewsbury Monday to Friday are at 08.08 (from Llandovery), 10.02, 14.25, 18.14 & 22.22; Saturday at 09.22, 13.01, 18.09 & 22.06. Sunday at 16.03 & 20.20.
