Details

Little has changed here over the centuries since the Pen-y-Bont Hotel was built. Whether you have a taste for mountain walking, hidden castles, waterfalls or beautiful beaches, we will be delighted to put you on the right track!
Our five letting rooms all overlook St. Mary’s church and the magnificent sweeping slopes of Craig Goch mountain side. Each room is named after a local historical character from the Talyllyn area. The booklets in the rooms will tell you their stories. All rooms have flat screen televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. All are en-suite with showers except the Family room which has a full-size bathroom. This room sleeps between three and five people. There is a ramp from a small Car Park to the rear of the building should ease of access be required.
We serve a full Welsh Breakfast including bacon, hand-made sausage, field mushrooms and a local free range egg. Vegetarian and Vegan options are always available. Homemade meals include Steak and Ale Pie and Chicken Madras Curry. In fine weather you can dine outdoors surrounded by stunning views. We also have the floral setting and comfy chairs of our Garden Courtyard. Well behaved dogs are welcome here. We serve Real Ales from Bragdy Mws Piws - Purple Moose Brewery - in Porthmadog and Cader Ales in Dolgellau. These are sold direct from the cask or by the bottle during the Summer season (bottles only in Winter.).
Machynlleth is within 20 minutes’ drive. This was Owain Glyndwr's 14th Century Welsh Capital. To the North is Dolgellau, popular with walkers and cyclists and those in search of Welsh Clogau gold. 10 miles to the west are the beautiful sandy beaches at Tywyn and Aberdovey. The seaside and university town of Aberystwyth is less than an hour’s drive away to the south. We have interesting attractions within three miles: Castell - y - Bere, a castle of the Prince of Wales in the 12th Century. Corris Mine Explorers, Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur's Labyrinth are a centre of attraction for a rainy day. The historic Talyllyn Railway is the world's first preserved railway. For plane enthusiasts we are on the Mach Loop. During weekdays, the fly pasts of military aircraft can be quite spectacular within our narrow valley. There are nearby vantage points, on Bwlch Llyn Bach for example, where the pilots wave to the photographers! And greatest of all, the mighty Cadair Idris, the Chair of Idris, the highest mountain peak in the south of Snowdonia. Fine views and and scenes of Welsh Myth and Legend await you here!
