‘Starlight Order’: from Y Gododdin to In Parenthes

Nawr yr Arwr/Now The Hero, a major production commissioned to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War, took place in Swansea in September. The performance was informed by the medieval Welsh poem, Y Gododdin.

This exhibition takes Y Gododdin as its starting point, and through written and illustrated manuscripts explores how it influenced David Jones’ own epic, In Parenthesis. It was during the BBC recording of In Parenthesis that Dylan Thomas first met Richard Burton, who both acted in the production.

This Exhibition is presented in partnership with the National Library of Wales and with thanks to the Estate of David Jones.
