About

Presteigne Carnival is a lively annual family & friends event held in the town on the second Saturday in July. It brings together both townsfolk and visitors from neighbouring communities and tourists to enjoy a traditional Carnival with modern twists.

The Carnival begins with the carnival parade of floats, fancy dressed walkers & decorated bicycles from John Beddoes School, along the High Street to the beautiful Went’s Meadow, at the top end of the town, where the afternoon & evening festivities begin.

The afternoon is packed with entertainment and activities including a Tug of War Competition & Sheep Shearing display. In the Community Barn; flowers, cookery and children's classes competitions are displayed. On the Carnival Field; Country Fair style stalls and games, inflatables, soft play area, go karts and family races for the younger visitors. There is a choice of delicious foods selling a variety of dishes, many locally sourced and the Carnival Café serving tea & cakes. There is also a Fun Dog Show and a Dog Scurry for our four legged friends.

The Carnival festivities goes on into the evening, with the Community Barn turning into the venue for the evening bands, with live music until 23:00.. A fun day for all.
