The Blaenafon Cheddar Company

About

Blaenafon cheddar is a family run business situated in the heart of the Blaenavon world heritage site. We specialize in producing speciality handmade welsh cheddar cheeses and soft welsh goats cheeses. Tourism is is an important part of our business and as well as producing the above for tourists to see we also offer a selection of welsh produce and local welsh ales, whisky and other speciality alcohols. To explore the fantastic mountain side you can either hire a guide to take you to many breathtaking secret places or you can explore by cycling along dedicated tracks or go off and explore yourself and if you do not fancy cycling all the way back up the mountainside then we will happily pick you up and return you to the start.
We also have a range of speciality adapted cycles for the disabled.

Pwll Mawr cheddar is the British Cheese Award mature cheddar Bronze medal of 2008. This cheese is matured 300ft below ground in the mineshaft of Big Pit Mining Museum, which is situated in Blaenavon and is part of the National Museum Of Wales Family and is free entry. If you visit the pit dont forget to ask the minor to show you the cheese when you go down underground!!!
