About

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a music festival which takes place every year during the second week of July in Llangollen, North Wales. It is one of several large annual Eisteddfodau in Wales.

The first International Musical Eisteddfod was held in Llangollen in June 1947. In the following 76 years its celebration of “Peace and Harmony” has made it one of the world’s great music festivals.

Llangollen’s place in world music is now immutable. More than 300,000 competitors from over 100 nationalities have performed enthusiastically on the Llangollen stage.

The main competitions take place in the magnificent 4,000 seat Royal International Pavilion.

A parade is held each year, in which both the locals and visitors, take part dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments, whilst marching the streets of Llangollen.
