New Quay to Cwmtudu Walk at New Quay / Cei Newydd

Leaving New Road, New Quay walk through the pretty terraces of New Quay, possible sites of Dylan Thomas's 'Under Milk Wood', finding Lewis Terrace, from which you take the well marked path along the cliff towards Cwmtudu. Look back over the town, you will see across Cardigan Bay, the Lleyn Peninsula and Bardsey Island and the new wind farm over 50 miles away.

There are a wealth of wild flowers, forty different species is a realistic target during Spring and Summer. Sheep's bit, pennywort, St John's wort and sea campion are but few.

You will discover secret bays, inaccessible except by sea. Sea birds abound around Bird Island, you may look down on a peregrine falcon. There are wooded valleys with rivers entering the sea, on the farmland watch out for rare coughs feeding with the crows. Around the quiet sandy bays you should see the resident seals, and frequently when the sea is calm, a superb view of the dolphins resident in Cardigan Bay. You finally get a bird's eye view of Cwmtudu Bay (Smugglers Cove), where you can find refreshments or plan a different walk back.
