Cwm Idwal was the first officially recognised National Nature Reserve in Wales; it was given this status by the Nature Conservancy Council in 1954. Along with Cadair Idris, Cwm Idwal was a favourite haunt of Charles Darwin.

 

Dolgoch Falls are a series of three waterfalls near Tywyn in Southern Snowdonia, Mid-Wales. The falls are part of the Nant Dol-goch stream and can be reached via a short walk, there are a number of caves on the route. OS Grid Ref: SH 6504
