There are three mountain biking trails that can be started from Garwnant Visitor Centre in Coed Taf Fawr which is part of Brecon Beacons National Park Forests. Merthyr Tydfil is the nearest town or village.

Gateway to the Gorlech MB trail This is an alternative starting point for the Gorlech mountain bike trail with ample parking and information boards.Grid Ref: SN 553394

 

The Gorech Trail is the first of three new mountain bike trails for the forest. Designed by Rowan Sorrell, the route is made up of three big climbs and descents stretching over its 19km.

The Marin Trail is a proper mountain bike trail in every sense of the term. Big climbs, big descents, brilliant singletrack and truly awesome scenery make this a trail to remember. OS Grid Ref: SH 757618

The trail delivers stunning views over this scenic little valley, and quality singletrack riding to match. You will catch great views of the waterfall as it drops over a rocky ledge where it pours off the Mynydd Mallaen. Starts: Picnic Site

The Trans Cambrian Way is a 108 mile / 175 km long distance mountain bike route that snakes its way through the heart of mid Wales, and climbs over the oldest mountain range in Europe, the Cambrian Mountains.

The Gap Mountain Bike Trail, or the Brecon Red route as it is known is 24 miles, 38 km. This is one of the all time classics of the Beacons taking in the Taff Trail, the Brecon Canal, the Brinore Tramway and the very popular Gap Road.

To the west of Rhayader there is a superb network of tracks that very in difficulty from easy family trails alongside the reservoirs to very tough moorland crossings only to be undertaken by the very fit.
