Enter the world of the Welsh Mountain Zoo and you enter a world of natural wonder. As one of North Wales' top attractions, high above Colwyn Bay with panoramic views and breathtaking scenery, its beautiful gardens are home to this caring conservation zoo.

Roam the wooded pathways, relax on the grassy slopes, and spend a lovely, lazy day learning about many rare and endangered species from Britain and around the world.

Cafés & Picnic tAreas

Cafe Safari has been awarded Silver Standard Dining and is situated on the main driveway. It has a balcony which overlooks our Tiger Enclosure and serves hot and cold meals.

The Trading Post Gift Shop

The Trading Post is situated by the main car park and offers a wide variety of gifts and souvenirs.
So treat yourself to a t-shirt, cuddly toy, or you can become an animal adopter- just fill in a simple form.

An 'egg-stra' special celebration

Easter has come early at the Welsh Mountain Zoo with the arrival of four tiny Emu chicks.

* Includes a voluntary 10% donation which will be put towards the conservation and animal welfare work of the National Zoological Society of Wales. Without your generosity we would not be able to carry out this vital work. If you are a UK taxpayer please complete a Gift Aid Declaration which will allow the National Zoological Society of Wales to claim an extra 25% on your total payment. You will be asked to pay the Gift Aid admission unless you request to pay the standard admission.

Road Directions

Just 3 minutes drive from the A55 expressway - exit at Junction 20 at Rhos-on-Sea interchange - the zoo is signposted from here. From Bangor 20 mins, Caernarfon 30mins, Wrexham & Chester 50mins, Liverpool 60mins and Manchester 70mins.

FREE bus to zoo - From Easter to mid September the zoo's free minibus service will operate a continuous daily service from Colwyn Bay Railway Station. The first trip from the station will start at 10:00am and will then run on a continuous loop throughout the day. You should not have to wait longer than 20 minutes for the minibus to arrive for collection. The last trip down from the Zoo will be just before 4:45pm.
