The Rocks at Plas Curig Hostel

About

The most communal and stylish space for your group (shared with other guests, unless exclusively hired).

Set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, our family-run, 5-star Visit Wales accredited, dog-friendly hostel sits just off the A5, the main artery of Snowdonia. It can be found nestled just minutes away from Betws-y-Coed, the Ogwen Valley and the Snowdon Horseshoe. If it is location that you are after, then The Rocks at Plas Curig offers the perfect base for you from which to explore.

The hostel is a beautiful building which has been a bastion of exploration for the travelling and adventure community who visit Snowdonia all year round, year-on-year since the 1940s, when it first became a YHA.

With breathtaking walks direct from the door, for the novice to expert, you can be on top of a mountain a thousand metres above sea level in the morning and sitting on the beautiful sands of one of our many blue flag beaches in the afternoon. Snowdonia and the beautiful North Wales coastline has something for everyone.

The hostel is equidistant to Betws-y-Coed, the ‘hub’ of Snowdonia, and the most popular mountain ranges including Snowdon (7 miles), Glyderau (5 miles) and Carneddau (behind the hostel). Some of the most scenic walks are taken direct from the hostel door, with the 872m Moel Siabod towering above the hostel. From the top of this mountain, it is possible to see 13 of the 14 highest peaks in Wales on a clear day.

The hostel is also only 20 minutes away from the 3 award-winning Zipworld sites (where guests of the hostel receive a 10% discount) and Surf Snowdonia. The hostel is also 25 minutes from the beach.

The hostel is next door to the best ramblers cafe in Snowdonia (Siabod Cafe) and the hostel is sandwiched between two wonderful pubs - The Tyn Y Coed (10 mins walk) and Bryn Tyrch Inn (1 minute).

The local ‘Sherpa’ S2 bus runs straight past the hostel and connects Betws-y-Coed to Pen Y Pass (where you would walk the Pyg or Miners Path up Snowdon) and Llanberis. The car park where you would park to walk up Snowdon is 12 minutes away by car.

Large drying room with dehumidifier = warm and dry boots the next day!
