Allt y Golau Farmhouse

About

Allt y Golau (translation - the sunny wooded steep slope) is situated in an uplifting landscape with panoramic views over the Tywi Valley and beyond to the dramatic Black Mountain. Our Georgian stone walled farmhouse has been furnished and decorated to a high standard in keeping with the character of the house. Renovation of the 1812 farmhouse by the present owners has restored many of its features. Children under 12 are not accepted.

Relax at the old elm stretcher table and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. Our breakfasts have been featured several years running in Eat Well in Wales and has an AA Breakfast Award. Breakfast relies on home baking, our own produce and the best of local traditional products.

Restore your spirits, stroll around and enjoy the mature and tranquil garden with its views of the Black Mountain and Carreg Cennen Castle. In the spring the orchards are carpeted in snowdrops, wild daffodils and bluebells. Enjoy the company of our Brecon Buff geese and Welsh Harlequin ducks. You can chase the free range hens that lay your breakfast or talk to the Welsh Black cattle over the fence! From summer until Christmas you can even make friends with our free range Norfolk Bronze turkeys.

The area offers excellent walking, fishing, riding and bird watching. The Red Kite now frequently soars over Alltygolau.

STAY WITH US FOR THREE NIGHTS OR MORE AND WE WILL GIVE YOU FREE ADMISSION TO THE NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES OR ABERGLASNEY GARDENS.
