This lovely south-facing cottage was extensively renovated in 2013 to provide two double en suite bedrooms to sleep four people. 2 Mill Street has been graded 4 star self catering accommodation by Visit Wales and is in a cul de sac two minutes’ walk from Crickhowell High Street with its great shops, pubs and restaurants. A new kitchen, two new bathrooms and gas central heating were provided as part of the renovations. With mountain views to front and rear, it’s an excellent base for walking and cycling in the Brecon Beacons National Park as well as exploring the town.
The accommodation is on three floors having two double en suite bedrooms either side of a living area on the middle floor.
The open plan living area with polished wooden floor includes a fully equipped fitted kitchen with breakfast bar including oven, ceramic hob, microwave and integrated fridge. The rest of this sunny, south-facing room has two sofas, a dining table and chairs for four, a large screen television (with freesat channels), DVD player, electric fire, wi-fi hub and ipod dock. This room overlooks the lawned front garden with access via the front door and stone steps.
On the top floor is the main bedroom with king sized bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside chests and en suite bathroom with shower, sink and WC. This bedroom has a south-facing aspect and views to the Llangattock Escarpment. There are also spectacular rear views to the Black Mountains from the landing window.
The lower ground floor contains the second bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and en suite shower room including sink and WC. On this floor there is a utility room with additional fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and storage cupboards. This floor also has direct access to the street with space in the downstairs hall suitable for storing bicycles.
Off street parking is available to the rear of the cottage.
Cotton bed linen, Christy bathroom towels, Myddfai soap, hairdryers and a welcome basket of local produce are provided.
No smoking. Well-behaved and flea-treated dogs are welcome.
Bullpit Meadow and the River Usk – ideal for dog-walking - are a short stroll away. Crickhowell Leisure Centre including tennis courts is two minutes’ walk from the back door.
Changeover day for weekly visitors is normally a Friday. Minimum stay of three nights.

When travelling from the north, east or south i.e. from England or from South Wales, you are most likely to end up at Hardwick roundabout outside Abergavenny where the A40, A465 and A4042 meet. From the roundabout take the exit marked Merthyr Tydfil A465, Blaenavon, Llanfoist. Keep on the dual carriageway for two miles until you reach a roundabout and Crickhowell is signposted from here (take 3rd exit – A4077). At Gilwern village keep following the signs to Crickhowell. After two miles go through the village of Legar and at the traffic lights turn right over the Usk bridge towards Crickhowell. Keep left at Bridge End Inn on other side of bridge. Carry on up New Road, after a few hundred yards up the hill turn left at the fork in the road which is Mill Street. 2 Mill Street is on the left at the bottom of the slope – parking is on the gravel drive to the rear.
The above is the quickest route but should you find yourself in Abergavenny follow the A40 towards Brecon. When you get to Crickhowell drive through the town and at the Shell petrol station turn left towards Llangattock onto New Road. By rail. Abergavenny is the nearest railway station which has direct trains from Newport, Cardiff and Swansea to the south and Hereford, Shrewsbury, Crewe and Manchester to the north. The X43 bus service from Brecon to Abergavenny runs through Crickhowell. The taxi fare from Abergavenny to Crickhowell is around £15.
