About
Maesmawr has a unique private Art Gallery and Sculpture rail. Open 11-4 Thursday - Sunday Easter - October. It is the home to the National Association of Sculptors in Wales, Sculpture Cymru and a permanent archive and collection of paintings, sculptures and enamel murals by the late international artist Stefan Knapp and sculptures by the late John Paddison. It holds regularly changing exhibitions by a important contemporary Welsh artists.
The house, stables and outbuildings are an intriguing mix of Georgian, Tudor and Victorian architecture, set in charming, mature gardens and farmland in stunning countryside that offer wonderful exhibition spaces for sculpture. The house has recently been sensitively updated and offers spacious comfortable en suite rooms, with wonderful views of the historic Severn Valley and surrounding hills. The owner holds fishing rights for the River Severn. Mid Wales Golf Club and Caersws tennis courts are a short walk away. We are on the National Cycle route system, have plenty of space for bicycles and can offer overnight stabling/ grazing for horses.
The private gardens are full of spectacular plants as well as our own home grown fruit and vegetables.
We specialise in delicious, healthy and beautifully presented homecooked food. Our emphasis is on healthy eating using our own or locally sourced ingredients.
We offer an exciting programme of day and residential art courses and welcome visitors wish to use the grounds and studios to work in. The owner is an experienced, qualified art teacher.
We are an ideal place for groups to hold meetings being situated at the crossroads of the main North-South, East-West routes through Wales with plentiful parking.
We are within walking distance of Caersws Station (The National Rail Network) and Local and National Bus Route stops.
