Iwan Llewelyn-Jones: The Great Romantic, Chopin

Iwan Llewelyn-Jones: The Great Romantic, Chopin

Iwan Llewelyn-Jones returns to the Ucheldre Centre in 2018-19 to perform four recitals that explore the captivating piano music of Fre´de´ric Chopin, and specifically the Nocturnes and Waltzes. Timeless masterpieces brimming with beguiling charm and sparkling wit.

Each recital will highlight the influences brought to bear on Chopin by his predecessors with works by Bach, Mozart, and the composer credited with giving birth to the Nocturne, John Field.

Conversely, the ways in which Chopin’s ground-breaking pianistic style shaped the music of future generations will be reflected in performances of piano works from across the globe: Faure´, Ravel and Debussy (France), Schumann (Germany), Grieg (Norway), Liszt (Hungary), Paderewski (Poland) and Rachmaninov (Russia), together with Britten (Great Britain), Liebermann (USA) and Sculthorpe (Australia).

Join Iwan on this musical odyssey as he shares his unique insights into Chopin’s world.

This, the second recital of the series, showcases:
Mozart: Sonata in B flat K.333 Chopin: Nocturnes Op. 15 and Op. 27
Valses Op. 34 and Op. 42 Paderewski: Nocturne op. 16 No. 4
Rachmaninov: Preludes Op. 23 nos. 4-7 Op. 32 Nos. 5 and 12
Liebermann: Nocturne No. 10 Scriabin: Nocturne for the left hand.
