Rhwng: Seán Street

Rhwng: Seán Street

This workshop will explore the sound under sound, seek to develop active listening to both the world around us and the sound inside text, and examine species of silence and stillness, uncovering layers of meaning through sonic expression in our relationship with things. Using a heightened awareness of internal and external sound we will seek to re-calibrate our auditory responses and their expression within our own writing.

Seån Street's latest full collection is Camera Obscura (Rockingham Press, 2016.) A pamphlet-length sequence, Talk, Radio: Poems of Transmission, was published by Lapwing in 2017. Prose includes a trilogy on sound, The Poetry of Radio (Routledge,2013),The Memory of Sound (Routledge, 2015) and Sound Poetics: Interaction and Personal Identity,(Palgrave, 2017). Among other works are books on Gerard Manley Hopkins and the Dymock Poets. He is Emeritus Professor at Bournemouth University and over many years has made radio documentaries and features for various broadcasters including the BBC, CBC in Canada and ABC in Australia.

No special experience or skills are necessary. Just come as you are! A warm welcome to all / Croeso cynnes i bawb
