The Story of Theatres - Amber Massie-Blomfield

The Story of Theatres - An Evening with Political Writer in Residence Amber Massie-Blomfield.

Amber Massie-Blomfield travelled from the tip of Cornwall to the Isle of Mull to discover Britain’s most astonishing theatres. In rural communities and the inner-city, Amber found haunted halls, stages hewn from granite cliffs, and squeezed into a former public loo. A Gladstone’s Library Political Writer in Residence, Amber’s event makes the case for buildings and the arts, and the important contribution they have made – and continue to make – to Britain’s political and cultural life.

Amber Massie-Blomfield is an arts producer, occasional journalist and writer of literary non-fiction. A Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and an Honorary Fellow of Birkbeck University, Amber spends much of her time immersed in theatrical worlds. Her first book-length piece, 2018’s Twenty Theatres to See Before You Die, is a love-letter to Britain’s theatres.
