St Davids Bishop Palace

St Davids Bishop Palace

Details

Discover the history of the building, then look for bats, listen to their calls on special detectors and learn about their unusual lifestyles in the building and beyond.

There are several different species of bat that may be encountered on these bat walks (not all species will be seen / heard in all locations). These include the Common pipistrelle, Soprano pipistrelle, Lesser Horseshoe, Greater Horseshoe, Daubenton, Noctule and the Long-eared bat. Each bat uses a different frequency for echo location and you will be informed of the frequencies during the walk. During the walks there may also be evidence of other nocturnal wildlife such as badgers, foxes and owls. However, there is no guarantee that all (or any) of the wildlife will be seen (or heard).

Bat detectors are provided on each walk and you will be shown how to use these before the walk begins. Dependent on the number of participants, bat detectors may have to be shared.

Please bring a torch.
