Gorge Walking in Wales

If you are after a wet and wild day out then this is for you. By going with the flow we will jump, squeeze, float or scramble down every rapid, waterfall or canyon we can. You will have an adrenaline packed day to remember. We Gorge Walk at a number of venues over Wales. On arrival we will kit you out in a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet and one of our highly qualified guides will give you a safety briefing before you get underway.
Our gorge related activities vary due to river/rainfall levels but we have a wide range of venues to choose from so we can provide you with the ideal location to suit the needs of your group - our rivers range from sedate to white and wild. Gorge walking is an all year round activity so ideal for a birthday party activity, a family day out or a stag or hen party.

Instructor Jumping off Looneys Leap Dinas Rock NeathDinas Rock

A popular venue we use is Dinas Rock – Neath. This area in the 19th century was a gunpower works which supplied ammunition for the coalfields of South Wales, this was the ideal location for such an industry thanks to it thick deep woodlands and the water being used as a power source. During a gorge walk here at Dinas Rock you are scaling some of the waterfalls used to produce power for the gunpowder works and you will see remains of ammunition from the gunpowder works while on your Gorge Walk. As well as such a statement in history being a part of your Gorge Walk you are surrounded by a natural environment and using it as your playground in a safe and guided session with Adventure Beyond.
Gorge walking is also a fantastic way to learn about the river environment - our sites are ecologically important sites and your guide will be on hand to show you its social and natural history. This activity makes an excellent alternative geography field trip for school and college groups. Our minimum age is eight, and we will ask you to bring your own footwear (old trainers are ideal), towel and dry clothes to change into afterwards.
