Following on from the announcement made by the Welsh Government today to introduce the ‘Firebreak’ lockdown we will be closing Caldicot Castle for the season from Friday 23rd October at 4pm.
Caldicot Castle Country Park will remain open, with the toilets open 10am - 4.30pm. The play area will also remain open.
The country park is currently open to all and our car park is operating from 8:30am – 8:00pm every day. The toilets in the country park are also open 8.30am -4.30pm.
The castle grounds and our toilets in the castle are now open Tuesday to Sunday (11am-4pm) and refreshments including hot and cold drinks and light snacks are available on a take away basis from our cafe. The main castle buildings remain closed at the present time.
We are open 6 days a week (not Mondays except Bank Holidays) (subject to any advertised private events). Admission is FREE, except on event days when charges will apply as advertised.
Our normal opening hours are 11 to 4pm outside school holidays and 11 to 5.00pm in school holidays

The Country Park is always open. Between the end of October and February vehicular access and the main car park is closed between 5.00pm and 8.00am (although the Church Road car park remains open).
On event days special access arrangements may apply, please follow signposts / directions.
FACILITIES
•The site offers FREE parking for cars and up to 5 coaches.
•Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and supervised in the castle.
•The gift shop stocks a range of high quality gifts, cards, books, and souvenirs.
•Wet weather facilities can be provided for lunch by arrangement.
•Archers Coffee Bar on site can provide ice creams and snacks or you can bring your own picnic.

•Accessible Toilets are available in Country Park car park.
•Caldicot Castle's courtyard and lawns offer level access with paved and light gravelled areas. Towers have spiral staircases and many doorways are narrow.
•Seating is available in the grounds and towers and in the Country Park.
•Towers include:Victorian room settings in the Keep and information history information in the Woodstock Tower
•Staff are happy to advise on access prior to or during a visit.

Using Google Maps use NP26 4HW which will take you to the Castle Inn pub and Church which is on the end of our drive.
By Car:
From M4 take junction 23a and B4245 to Caldicot. From M48 take junction 2 for Chepstow and follow A48 (towards Newport) and B4245 to Caldicot. Caldicot Castle is sign posted from B4245.
By Rail:
Caldicot Halt is served by mainline services between Cardiff and Gloucester. From Bristol change at Severn Tunnel Junction. The castle is about a twenty minute walk from the station.
By Bus:
Bus Services run to Caldicot from Bristol, Newport and Chepstow. From The Cross, the castle is about a five-minute walk along Church Road.
Wales is operating country-wide restrictions and is currently at coronavirus alert level four, with strict measures in place to limit the spread of the virus. Please check on the Welsh Government website before visiting or travelling to Wales or within Wales.
