Tour of Britain - Wales

Tour of Britain - Wales

The OVO Energy Tour of Britain, the UK’s premier road cycling race, will pass just to the east of Abergavenny and finish in Wales for the first time this year as Cardiff hosts the end of the final stage on Sunday 10th September.

This stage will start in Worcester and run just to the south of Hereford and then turn south to continue between Abergavenny and Monmouth before heading for Usk, Newport and onto Cardiff.

The times shown are the riders ETAs based on a fast race; a slower race may give ETAs of 18 - 29 minutes later. The cars preceding the race will arrive about 15 minutes before the riders.

From Hereford, the Tour will take the A49 south until turning right onto the A466 towards Monmouth (12:42), passing through Wormelow (12:44) and St Weonards (12:52). The race will then take the B4521 towards Abergavenny (12:56) to Skenfrith (13:01) and Norton (13:03). Here the riders will follow the B4347 - with a King of the Mountains stage which finishes at Crossway (13:05) - to Newcastle (13:07).

From Newcastle, the Tour will turn right onto a minor road and head south to join the B4233 (13:12) and travel west to Llantilio Crossenny (13:22). From here the riders will take another minor road heading south, this time through Llanarth (13:28) and over the A40 to join the B4598 just south of Llanvihangel Gobion (13:31); the race will continue on this road to Usk.

The Tour will start in Edinburgh on Sunday 3rd September and it will be the first time since 2012 that it has finished outside of London and coincides with Visit Wales’ Year of Legends. Cardiff will welcome the Tour of Britain for the first time ever, with the race finishing on King Edward VII Avenue, alongside Cardiff City Hall.
