Arts & Performance Festival, Sat 9 Jun 2018, free entry

A free entry fun-packed festival will take over Caerphilly Castle on Saturday June 9th. Ffiliffest is Menter Caerffili’s summer celebration of the Welsh language and of local Welsh culture and the event will include performances, entertainment, activities, workshops, food and drink stalls and a chance to explore the rooms, corridors and towers of Caerphilly Castle. For the first time this year, there will be a beach area also where children will be able to play in the sand!

Menter Caerffili has worked closely with Cadw, community groups and performers to plan the event which is unique to the area. Hundreds of local school children have been preparing and practising traditional Welsh folk dancing to stage the largest performance in the county as one of the highlights of the event. This year the festival goes on untill 5:00pm, with performances by Welsh language musicians Martyn Geraint, Ragsy, Nantgarw, Mabli Tudur, the soloist John Nicholas and many more. This year’s musical line-up has been organised in partnership with Y Selar. There will be gift stalls, and various food and drinks stalls including a cocktail caravan and a beer and cider marquee, many activities and fun educational workshops will also be at the event including an arts and craft tent, a VR and retro games area and all this is within the unique setting of the Castle.
