William Marshal Weekend

William Marshal Weekend

Details

Experience the sites, sounds and smells of medieval life this weekend as we celebrate the life and times of William Marshal – the greatest knight that ever lived – on the 800th anniversary of his death.

This massive celebration will feature archery and sword demonstrations throughout the day, culminating in a medieval tournament! An encampment will feature medieval trades and craftsmen including blacksmiths, potters, and coin produces. Award winning best-selling author Elizabeth Chadwick will be giving talks on William Marshal - the subject of a number of her novels. As a great lover of music, there will also be live performances of the music that Marshal himself would’ve known from the twelfth and early thirteenth centuries. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enrol in Sword School! Refreshments will be available.
