Tour of Britain - Wales

Tour of Britain - Wales

Details

The OVO Energy Tour of Britain, the UK’s premier road cycling race, will pass through Newport and finish in Wales for the first time this year as Cardiff hosts the end of the final stage on Sunday 10th September.

This stage will start in Worcester and run just to the south of Hereford and then turn south to continue between Abergavenny and Monmouth before heading for Usk, Caerleon, Newport and onto Cardiff.

The times shown are the riders ETAs based on a fast race; a slower race may give ETAs of 35 - 39 minutes later. The cars preceding the race will arrive about 15 minutes before the riders.

From Caerleon (14:01) the Tour will travel to Newport via Belmont Hill (where there will be a King of the Mountains stage - 14:02), Catsash Road and Christchurch Road. Then Beechwood Road (14:06), Chepstow Road, Wharf Road, George Street, Lower Dock Street (14:10), Usk Way and onto the A48 heading west. Just before Tredegar Park, the riders will turn left into Lighthouse Road (14:15) and follow the B4239 towards Cardiff.

The Tour will start in Edinburgh on Sunday 3rd September and it will be the first time since 2012 that it has finished outside of London and coincides with Visit Wales’ Year of Legends. Cardiff will welcome the Tour of Britain for the first time ever, with the race finishing on King Edward VII Avenue, alongside Cardiff City Hall.
