WNO Orchestra: A Summer's Evening

WNO Orchestra: A Summer's Evening

The WNO Orchestra returns to the Dora, once more under the direction of Leader David Adams. This time, the programme looks forward to the coming months.

Haydn’s Symphony No 8, Le Soir formed part of a trilogy of symphonies celebrating morning, noon and evening; we follow this with Mendelssohn’s wonderfully illustrative incidental music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, written in 1842 following a commission from King Frederick William IV of Prussia; the concert concludes with Mozart’s Symphony No 39, from the composers final and greatest group of symphonies.

Haydn Symphony No 8 Le Soir
Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Incidental Music)
Mozart Symphony No 39

WNO Orchestra: David Adams violin & orchestra leader
