Details

The Elan Valley Dark Sky Park will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing by having a Moon Day, held at the Visitor Centre and Penbont House. Celebrate this special day with fun, astronomy themed activities for all ages.

Elan Links History group will be be showing the Lunar Landing as it was broadcast on CBS and other videos related to the Moon and asking you for your memories of the Lunar Landing on 20th July, 1969.

Various activities and talks held throughout the day at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre and Penbont House including:

Ever wanted to know what it's like to be an astronaut? Emma Wride of Astrocymru will help you discover the effects that space has on humans and what it's like to live on the International Space Station. Meet at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre.

10am - 12pm
Find out about the forces affecting rockets, types and history of rockets and shapes involved to make them aerodynamic. Create your own special rocket and see if you can break the highest distance record! Meet at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre.

Join Pete Williamson, Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, as he gives a fascinating talk on the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings and the future of man's exploration of our natural satellite. Meet at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre.
