The Kitchen


Oriel Davies is seeking donations of unwanted kitchen furniture and objects from the residents of Newtown and surrounding areas. We are looking for items to create and furnish The Kitchen.

What we’re looking for

Fully functioning items that fit the following criteria:

Kitchen furniture with a retro rustic look e.g. tables, chairs, stools, benches, pantry cupboards, shelves, stand-alone cupboards and sideboards, wooden clothes maiden
Big or small furniture items (but should be domestic)
Kitchen utensils and objects e.g. cutlery, metal and wooden utensils, wicker and wire baskets, trays, storage jars and tins, bottles,
Craft materials e.g. pens, pencils, paint brushes, water-based paints, coloured paper and card, scrap material, wire and string
No flat-pack type furniture or chipboard
No electrical items or white goods
No plastic utensils or storage containers
No items in a total state of disrepair or collapse
The Kitchen

A creative social space, where art, performance, craft and film will be made, shared and inspired. The Kitchen is Oriel Davies’ pop-up project and event space, open to visitors from October 2017 to January 2018, presenting a vibrant programme of workshops, activities, events and talks alongside fantastic opportunities for collaboration and encouraging community intervention.

The Kitchen is a room to relax and hang out in as well as a space for creativity. Designed as a flexible environment for a wide range of activity, The Kitchen will continuously adapt and change over the four months as visitors, artists and community groups create and share their work.

The gallery is less than a mile from the main A483 and A489 roads which pass through the town.
It is in the centre of Newtown, adjacent to the bus station. Parking is available in the car park next to the gallery. The train station is a 10 minute walk through the town.

Cycle route NCN 81, Lon Cambria and Lon Teifi pass directly next to the gallery.

The Severn Way long distance footpath also passes next to the gallery.
