Gamelan musicians

Mid Wales theatre fans are in for a treat when 25 Gamelan musicians from West Java perform at the Willow Globe Theatre. The Kyai Fatahillah Ensemble from Sunda, will be led by renowned composer Pak Iwan Gunawan and will perform in collaboration with UK artists.

Having already played at Kings College Cambridge, the ensemble will be playing at the Cadogan Hall in London and the Royal College of Music, London before arriving at the Willow Globe and then performing at Womad Festival in July.

The musicians will welcome the audience to a pre-concert workshop at 4pm and will include wayang golek puppet theatre, lively Jaipong dance and Tarawangsa.

Put simply this event is going to be incredible!

Sekar Enggal specialises in performing a variety of music from the region of Sunda, West Java. The group will be joined by two outstanding musicians from Bandung, Indonesia: the singer Hendrawati, and the composer and multi-instrumentalist Iwan Gunawan.

Think magical gongs and beautiful songs!
There will be lovely homemade soup and cakes as well as a selection of teas, coffee and a well stocked bar at this and all Willow Globe events this summer.
