Coed Y Brenin Visitor Centre

Details

This small car park is the start of the rugged Volcano Trail and near a bridge taking you across the Afon Mawddach and gorge.

The trail is a circular walk which takes in a number of special features in Coed y Brenin Forest Park, including the copper bog and Moel Hafod Owen, the highest point in the forest. Along the way, there are information panels about Coed y Brenin’s geology and its violent volcanic history.

The route follows a combination of forest tracks, minor roads and paths, often on an unmade uneven surface. It goes through some of the roughest terrain in the forest.
