Details

Experience an exclusive tour with the Warden of the lowland wet grasslands at RSPB Ynys-hir. During the winter months, this wonderful habitat supports flocks of wintering wildfowl and waders including species such as lapwing, golden plover and Greenland white fronted geese along with birds of prey such as hen harrier and peregrine. Learn how we manage the area for these and other species.

The tour lasts for 2 hours and there is a maximum number of four people per tour. Booking beforehand is essential on 01654 700222.

By bicycle: (Sustrans cycle route) Route 8.
By train: The nearest train station is Machynlleth (6 miles). Proceed by bus or taxi to the reserve from there. If you are coming by bike, it is possible to get a train to Dyfi Junction and cycle the 2 miles to the reserve.
By bus: There is a regular bus service between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth that stops in Eglwys-fach (Service X28).
By road: The reserve is situated between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. Turn off the A487 in the village of Eglwys-fach and proceed for one mile to the car park.

Accessible by Public Transport: 2 miles from Dovey Junction station
