The Elfin Knight

The Elfin Knight

A coming-of-age story intended for adults and older children, this is a Spring time tale with music. On her sister’s wedding day, Mary wonders if it will ever be her turn to get married. But does she really want a husband, or is it a TRUE LOVER she requires? Maybe Auntie has the answers…

"The Elfin Knight" is a 45 minute story inspired by a familiar 16th century ballad, and will accompanied by other songs and other stories. Come and be beguiled!

Suzanne and Jake Thomas are a wonderful combination, with Suzanne’s engaging telling of tales, and Jake’s traditional folk-style acoustic guitar playing. Together they are a not-to-be-missed music and storytelling duo who sing songs and tell stories from a repertoire of traditional pieces and their own compositions. They find their inspiration in the folktales, legends and songs of Britain and the wild hills of South Shropshire. They made their debut at Festival at the Edge in 2014.

Suzanne began storytelling in 2008, when she set up “Cranesfield Bardic Arts”. Since then, her passion for sharing stories has taken her to schools, libraries, The National Trust and Festival at the Edge. Growing up in the Midlands, with holidays by the sea and in the mountains of Wales, Suzanne found her love of stories and legends. She loves to tell stories of the landscape, and can often be found on hilltops, searching beneath stones, and listening to whispers on the wind, gathering threads and weaving them into tales that want to be heard.

Jake has had a passion for music all of his life. He plays the finger-picking folk style guitar, inspired by the 60's and early 70's acoustic blues/folk legends. This self taught guitarist writes and performs his own compositions along with covers from the greats and his favourite traditional folk songs. "Acoustic guitar wizard" “good to hear a guitar played properly”.
