Inward Journey

Details

The practice of Focusing is about deepening inner awareness and acceptance of all parts of our self, enabling us better to flourish and live creatively.

Following the successful Focusing workshop at Bleddfa last year, Elizabeth Halls is returning with four workshops in 2018.

The fourth workshop of 2018 is 'Inward Journey'. This workshop/retreat uses Focusing and ritual in the context of prayerful and meditative practice to explore our sense of spirituality and inner journey.

These one-day experiential workshops offer time aside from the busy-ness of life to explore different aspects of Focusing in a gentle, relaxed way within a beautiful and inspiring setting. The final two workshops are more specifically oriented around Focusing within spiritual practice

These are for you if:

• you are interested in mindfulness practices and would like to discover a further way of engaging with your inner life
• you are a counsellor or psychotherapist interested in exploring how this gentle and healing practice can help your clients
• you would like to deepen your sense of your own spiritual life, grounded in physical awareness
• you would like a relaxed and self-nurturing day of gentle self-discovery

Focusing was originally developed by Eugene Gendlin, a colleague of Carl Rogers, who wanted to help his counselling clients to access the often unformed ‘felt senses’ of their inner awareness. He realised that when we can do this, freeing, healing and affirming things can happen.

Elizabeth’s love of Focusing has grown out of her counselling work, and also as it connects for her with a sense of the spiritual in life. ‘Focusing is not so much a technique as a way of being’, she says, ‘A way of reaching and understanding inward thoughts and feelings that go beyond words.’

Continuing Professional Development certificates of attendance (6 hours) will be available.

These workshops will be accessible for those new to Focusing and those more experienced, as each will be able to go at their own pace. Most of the work will be individual, with times for sharing and exchanging during breaks and lunch. All are welcome, from all faiths and none.

You do not need any special preparation or materials.

Elizabeth Halls is a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has taught on the University of Worcester Foundation Degree (Science) in Counselling and the BTEC Diploma in Counselling at Herefordshire Technical College.
