Details

Swimmers, windsurfers and boats often share the water here, but it rarely gets crowded. The beach is north-west facing and can feel exposed when it gets windy. However you can follow the course of the estuary round to the back of the dunes, which have been extensively restored by the National Park Authority, to find a sheltered spot. The estuary is a favourite haunt of seabirds and wading birds, Herons are often spotted near the Iron Bridge. The beach is accessible for people with disabilities and there is a ramp leading from disabled spaces in the car park onto hard sand. Beach side facilities are limited although there is a seasonal shop and refreshments and a good range of shops, cafes, pubs and other services can be found at Newport town, around half a mile inland. The beach can be easily reached by bike using the Celtic trail and there are spectacular walks in both directions along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Seaside Award beach; dogs are allowed. Parking, cafe, toilets and slipway. Newport provides all the amenities of a large village. Lifeguard service provided 10:00 - 18:00 15 June to 1 September 2019.
