Village:Clunderwen at Clunderwen/Clynderwen

Wales is operating country-wide restrictions and is currently at coronavirus alert level four, with strict measures in place to limit the spread of the virus. Please check on the Welsh Government website before visiting or travelling to Wales or within Wales.

The rural village of Clunderwen (Clynderwen) lies between Llandissilio and Narberth adjacent to the Preseli Hills on the A478 road almost halfway between Cardigan and Tenby road; formerly in Carmarthenshire, it is now in the county of Pembrokeshire. Before the Great Western Railway’s line arrived in 1851 there were no houses in what is now the centre of Clunderwen; however by 1861 the village, known as Narberth Road, grew around the station. The railway continued to play a large role in the village’s life; slate from local quarries, livestock and food stuffs were also shipped from here.

Although its importance for freight has gone, Clunderwen maintains a station on the West Wales line from Carmarthen.
