Llyn Brianne Reservoir & DamLakeLlyn Brianne is a spectacular reservoir at almost 300m (990ft) above sea level. It holds over 64 million cubic metres of water contained by a 91m (300ft) stone-built dam and is the largest of its kind in Europe.
Llyn Brianne did not exist until the early 1970’s, when the Tywi and other waterways were dammed to create Wales’ second-biggest reservoir by water volume, and South Wales’ largest lake.
Activities around Llyn Brianne include bird watching, fishing, stargazing, mountain biking and walking.
STAR GAZING Llyn Brianne is a stunning location for stargazing and was officially awarded Dark Sky Discovery Site status in October 2019, the first site to receive such an award in the Cambrian Mountains.
With wide open skies and uninterrupted vistas in nearly all directions it’s a perfect location for Astrophotography and spotting shooting stars! Also check out the small car park a little to the South which has fantastic views Northwards of the dam itself.Cambrian MountainsSA20 0PGUnited Kingdom52.121348494029-3.763613167676http://www.showmewales.co.uk/?dms=3&venue=1168340
