About

The Bug Farm is a visitor and research centre all about wildlife conservation, sustainable food and farming and invertebrates (or 'bugs'). Based on a 100 acre wildlife reserve and working farm in the heart of the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, The Bug Farm is a haven for flora and fauna and perfect for a day out with family or friends - whatever your age.

Inside the converted, historic farm buildings there is a Tropical Bug Zoo, Bug Museum, Art Gallery, British Bug House and Gift Shop. Out and about, you can explore a series of wildlife walks and the farm's beautiful Walled Garden. The Bug Farm Trail is an outdoor space showcases Pembrokeshire farming in small, bite-size chunks. Visitors can explore the award-winning wildflower meadows, ponds and farming plots, learning how we can produce food and look after our planet at the same time.

A rustic, indoor run-around space (the Bug Barn) allows children to let off steam with outdoor play- and learning areas designed especially for children.

If you are hungry, you can indulge yourself at Grub Kitchen; the UK's first edible insect restaurant. Insects are always on the menu, although there are always plenty of insect-free options too. Local, sustainable produce is used to create delicious, beautiful and innovative vegan, vegetarian and conservation-grade meat dishes that demonstrate how you can eat more sustainably now, and for the future. Look out for Bug Farm Foods range of edible insect products in the shop too!

Situated just one mile from St Davids, The Bug Farm is dog friendly, fully accessible, has a fast-charge electric car charging point and is a Quality Assured visitor attraction. Contact: info@thebugfarm.co.uk for any queries.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

By car:
Directions from the East/South (Haverfordwest)
Follow signs towards St Davids on the A487. Once you reach St Davids, follow the main road until you reach the Cross Square, a very odd shaped roundabout! Turn right here and follow the one way system past the fruit and veg shop (on your right), fire station and hardware shop (both on your left). Soon after the hardware shop (Mathias), the road forks. Take the left hand fork (actually just straight on) signed towards Fishguard. You will past St Davids Rugby club on the left. Follow this road for approx 1 mile. After 1 mile, the road goes slightly down hill and bends sharply to the right. Just after the right hand bend our track is on the right. It is signed with two black beetles on fence posts! Follow the track down and turn left into the car park just before the farmhouse.

Directions from the North (Fishguard)
Follow signs towards St Davids on the A487. Approx 5 minutes after you pass through a small village called Croesgoch you will pass through an even smaller village called Carnhedryn. Continue straight on, and after few miles the road goes slightly down hill, our track is on the left just before the road bends to the left. It is signed with black beetles on fence posts. If you go past the white house on the bend, you have gone too far.

By public transport:
Haverfordwest and Fishguard train stations are approximately 15 miles from The Bug Farm, and both have regular bus services to St Davids.

The nearest railway station is Haverfordwest, which is 15 miles away.
