About
While the festival started off in 1994 as a celebration of the newly formed twinning link with Briec, a small town in Brittany, France, the festival has now grown to a week long series of events. This year it will celebrate 30 years of its existence, and for the festival week this town will be full of events and activities to suit all tastes.
Several concerts are planned including by well known folk artists and choirs, historical lectures and walks, comedy nights, discussion events and a series of workshops and sessions.
The ever popular Top of Town event on the town's historic square has music and dance between the hours of 1pm and 8pm, with the entertainment then moving into the town's community venues and public houses until the early hours. The line-up this year includes Welsh folk band Bwncath as well as Band Pres Llareggub and Fleur de Lys, as well as Hoverla Ukrainian Dancers as well as a wide array of local bands, artists and choirs.
Some of the events are free entry which others require an entry fee - but all tickets are available on the door as well as beforehand.
The itinerary for the whole week can be found on the festival website.
