Details
Fishing at Llyn Brenig is a pleasure for both experienced anglers and those new to fishing -particularly fly fishing.
Best known for fly fishing at Llyn Brenig, you'll also find pike fishing annually from 1 November and year round multi-method bank fishing in nearby Alwen Reservoir.
Fishing at Llyn Brenig Reservoir is only by fly, which is best done from a boat, however, you can also fly fish from the bank. It is recommended to book boat hire in advance. If you are new to fly fishing, you can also book a fly fishing taster session at the Visitor Centre
To accompany great fishing, there is a Lakeside Café and specialist Fishing Shop, with everything you need to get out on the water.
Llyn Brenig Lake is one of the few fisheries preserved for fly fishing for trout. Stocks of rainbow trout are added weekly and trout weighing over 10lb have been caught.
The Lake is used as a venue for international competitions and the fishing season is March to end of October permits available from visitor centre.
ALWEN RESERVOIR
Permits can also be bought for fishing in the nearby Alwen Reservoir. Fishing for stocked Rainbow Trout is by fly only, it’s a great location for multi-method fishing where you can fish by spinning, natural fly and single natural worm except north of the bridge, where again it is fly fishing only.
