Self Catering Accommodation. Maes Gylfinir is a spacious modern bungalow in the village of Ystrad Meurig, 13 miles south-east of Aberystwyth. It is ideally situated for walking, cycling, touring, bird-watching and astronomy. It is 100 yards from the entrance to the Cors Caron national nature reserve. It is only 4 miles from the historic abbey at Strata Florida and within easy reach of Devil's Bridge, Hafod and other well known sites. Set in its own grounds it enjoys extensive views towards the Cambrian mountains and is an ideal place to unwind and relax. Maes Gylfinir – Access Statement Maes Gylfinir, Ystrad Meurig Ceredigion SY25 6AX 01974 831471 Map Reference SN 711 672 Your hosts are Karen and Ian Poyser Maes Gylfinir is a bungalow annexe to the owners' property and is situated on gently sloping south-facing ground. The bungalow is situated 130m from the main B4340 down a private gravelled drive. A large parking area surfaced with stone chippings (full turning possible) gives access to the bungalow. Guests can park their car right outside the bungalow. We are always available to welcome guests and assist with luggage transfer. Paths to the front door are paved, but uneven. The front door (width 800mm up 4 steps) opens into a hallway (width 900mm). All internal doorways are 740mm wide. ·The bathroom contains a wash-basin (height 810mm), toilet (height 430mm) and bath (height 540mm) with an overhanging shower. The immersion heater is situated within one of the two bathroom cupboards (the manual over-ride switch on the timer is at a height of 1560mm). ·The bedroom contains two single beds, a chest of drawers (4 drawer, height 930mm) and two walk-in wardrobes. The main room light may be operated from the bedside. ·The large, well-lit sitting room/dining room is east-facing and commands good views across fields to the Cambrian mountains above Pontrhydfendigaid, the nearest village (2 miles). A patio door (width 1100mm) provides alternative access from the parking area by way of 4 steps. ·The well-lit, west-facing kitchen/breakfast room is reached via the sitting room. (Its worktop has a height of 900mm.) The fan-assisted oven has a drop-down door (handle height 1180mm) and there is an upright fridge-freezer with the fridge uppermost (door handle height 930mm). A kettle, microwave and toaster are available on the worktop. From the kitchen, double doors (width 1150mm) lead into the garden down 4 steps. ·The large, mature garden is laid to lawns and shrubs. Guests are welcome to use the garden and any of the seats provided. All paths howev er are uneven and are on gently sloping ground. They are paved variously in concrete, brick and stone chippings and may become slippery during very wet weather. The bungalow is centrally heated during the autumn and winter months and during unseasonably cold spells. During the summer months, portable oil-filled electric radiators are available. There are no streetlights in this part of the village and it can be extremely dark at night. There is an exterior light on the corner of the bungalow and another light above the front door. We provide a torch for visitor use, but all guests are advised to bring their own torches as additional lighting. A bus service to Aberystwyth (13 miles) is available from the top of the drive (pre-booking is essential) and taxis also operate in the area. We are happy to provide lifts to and from the station (Aberystwyth) if guests give us prior notification.
