About

We are a family-run, traditional Country Inn and Restaurant, with varied accommodation, at the foot of Mt. Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park.

As owners of the Cwellyn Arms for over 35 years, we have experience within the hospitality and restaurant industry and strive to do our utmost to ensure an enjoyable visit or stay.

We offer a warm welcome from our family and friendly staff in a relaxing and informal atmosphere.

All our food is prepared from fresh ingredients on the premises and we take time and care in sourcing quality local suppliers.

We have two lounge areas with “real fires”, which are dog friendly.

We are a “real ale” Inn and serve up to 9 “real ales”. Most of our “real ales” are sourced from various selected micro-breweries offering a continued variety of choice.

Our Seasonal menus are served throughout the inn or relax in the spacious comfort of our rustic, warm and welcoming, 40-seater Restaurant with underfloor heating and log burning stove.

Our accommodation caters to suit all tastes and pockets, Bedrooms at the Inn, Farmhouse Accommodations, Bunkhouse Accommodations and Camping with Camp Fires.

The Cwellyn Arms is situated in the Village of Rhyd Ddu, at the foot of Mount Snowdon, on the A4085 Caernarfon to Beddgelert road 4 miles from Beddgelert, in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.

Rhyd Ddu overlooks the sparkling clear waters of Llyn y Gadair, Llyn Cwellyn and the majestic western slopes of Mt. Snowdon, with two main footpaths, the Rhyd Ddu path and the Snowdon Ranger path starting from the village. There are also several woodland and forest walks within easy reach see ‘local walks’.

The village boasts magnificent uninterrupted views towards Mt. Snowdon and is situated right at the start of the Nantlle Ridge and Mynydd Mawr, popular havens for the hillwalkers of Snowdonia.

We are ideally situated for exploring the whole of Snowdonia and North Wales. There are castles, steam railways and of course the natural beauty of the mountains, valleys and beaches all within easy reach. This area of outstanding natural beauty is an ideal base for walking, climbing, fishing, pony trekking, diving, canoeing, sailing, wind surfing, mountain biking and much, much, more.
