The Reading Room

About

This is a very special retreat hidden away in the rafters of a 19th Century rambling stone barn in a courtyard of beautiful stone barns. A bohemian hayloft and a welcoming space which envelops you in its warm and cosy vibe as soon as you walk up the beautiful stone steps outside and in through the front door.

It's the perfect escape to retreat to, hide away and rejuvenate in. It's full of character and furnished with a mixture of antiques, beautiful fabrics and original quirky features.

The Reading Room has a large south west facing balcony so you can enjoy beautiful mountain views by day, gorgeous sunsets and at night the outstanding star scape in this dark skies area. Wrap up in the blankets and cushions provided and sit out on the balcony in front of the flickering wood burner with a glass of something special and watch the Milky Way and shooting stars.

Enjoy stunning views of the Cambrian Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park and reconnect with nature and make the most of walks from the door to hidden valleys, mountains, streams and waterfalls. It's a short walk to our very friendly pub in the village.

Spin 78s on the brilliant 1920s Gramophone. Guaranteed to make you smile.

Well equipped kitchen with wooden worktops, Belfast sink, original Delft tiles, Stellar pans and electric oven. The grand bathroom here is original in all senses of the word - hand painted wallpaper, a very long and comfortable enamel bath with mahogany panelling and, what must be described as a throne!

Originally converted to allow the artist owner to keep an eye on her horses in the foaling barn below, there is a luxurious double cabin bed with carved scrolls and stained glass window with views into the beautiful barn beyond. There are no longer any animals in the barn below, so you will have this retreat to yourselves.

Please note that the bed is a double with entry from one side only. If you prefer a more spacious bed, please look at our other property, Glanyrafon. But if you want to cwtch somewhere special, then this is for you.
