The Sirhowy Ironworks were first established in 1778. Between 1794 and 1818, they were operated by William Borrow, Rev. Matthew Monkhouse and Richard Fothergill.




Take the Tredegar turn off the A465 Heads of the Valley Road. Proceed along the bypass road and take the first exit at the third roundabout near the Total petrol Filling Station. Proceed for 100 meters and pass through the gap in the terraced houses. The ironworks is located in Grahams Yard at the rear of Dukestown Road. Visitors travelling from the south should travel along the A4048 and take the second exit on the fourth roundabout on the Tredegar Bypass and proceed as above.
