Freshwater East beach is well sheltered from prevailing winds and backed by sand dunes. The dunes known as the Burrows are owned and managed by the National Park Authority and are grazed by ponies in the winter. The beach is backed by a large holiday park where there is a small shop and refreshments are available. There is easy access from the road to the beach and a designated car park for disabled visitors with a wheelchair accessible path to a viewpoint overlooking the beach.

Green Coast and Seaside Award beach. The beach is easily reached by car and has a car park with 80 spaces (charges may apply); it also has a slipway for launching boats.
